collective grief

Our community is mourning a great loss—the passing of a beloved neighbor.

Our sweet neighbor was always kind to us, always smiling, and offering a friendly chat. It feels like over the years we have all grown together, watching our families grow, raising our children, becoming part of the daily flow and rhythm of each other’s lives—even if we just lived five porches away from each other.

She became one of those familiar, comforting faces woven into the fabric of our everyday lives.

For 11 years we were neighbors, and we are incredibly grateful to have shared those 11 years together in our community.

These images I took of Zaya lighting a prayer candle at Church reminds me of all the prayers we lift up to the Lord, especially the recent prayers I have said through my tears for my neighbor and her family.

Eternal rest grant unto her, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon her. May her soul and all the souls of the faithful departed rest in peace. Amen.
