Jenn Doing My Best—Photos and stories of an ordinary life.
Jennifer is a Michigan-based blogger, photographer, and mixed-media artist. On Jenn Doing My Best, she documents personal moments and scenes from everyday life through words and photography.
In the spring of 2015, Jennifer and her family relocated from Tennessee to Michigan after her husband’s active-duty Army service. She began documenting life in metro Detroit through her former city blog Good Life Detroit (2015 – 2023).

Jennifer’s photography focuses on city scenes, street portraits, and unexpected details. Her mixed-media practice centers on junk journals and altered books, where she layers her own photography with collected ephemera, recycled materials, and pages from old books and magazines.
Her journals move beyond memory-keeping to tell stories of motherhood, faith, mental health, and contemporary culture.
Jennfier lives in metro Detroit with her husband and their six children. When she isn’t creating, she can usually be found browsing the public library bookshelves, sipping a cup of tea, or enjoying one of her many grandma hobbies.
