Happy Friday

Hi, friends. Hope you had a good week. What are your weekend plans? I’m hoping to check out a local antique pop-up market and visit the art museum.

In honor of September 11th, here are three things to reflect on this Friday.

Remembering Betty Ong. “Woman who answered flight attendant’s historic 9/11 call recalls her bravery.”

This heartwarming prayer from the Archdiocese of Detroit.

Planting Peace: The Story of Wangari Maathai by Gwendolyn Hooks. On Tuesday, I checked out this lovely children’s biography book on Wangari Maathai. We’re going to read and discuss the book next week for our science homeschool unit study.

Today, during morning prayer, I prayed a Rosary decade for all those who died and everyone who is mourning and hurting. My heart and prayers are with you. I hope everyone has a peaceful weekend.

💜 XO

  1. Thank you for sharing this meaningful reflection. September 11th is a day that reminds us of the fragility of life, the courage of ordinary people, and the importance of remembering those who were lost. Betty Ong’s bravery is a powerful reminder that courage often appears in the most unexpected moments.

As for the weekend, your plans sound wonderful—an antique market and an art museum are both perfect places to discover stories from the past and find inspiration for the present. I hope you have a beautiful and meaningful weekend.

    1. Thank you for your kind words, friend. I watched this video and another one on Betty Ong, and it made me cry. It is so heartbreaking, but she and many others were very brave.

You are so right–these tragic moments are strong reminders that life is fragile. We must do our very best to love one another and show compassion.

I am looking forward to the antique market. I have never been to one before, so I am excited! Have a blessed day, my friend!

  2. I read about Betty in that 9/11 book I read a couple weeks ago. Definitely brave! It’s truly astounding what people did that day that I’m sure they thought they’d never be in a position to do. So many heroes came out of that day (or didn’t).
A good weekend to you as well!

    1. Yes, I agree! She was incredibly brave, and I was struck by how calm she was on the phone.

Now, I really want to read the 9/11 book you shared on your previous post! My husband and I were talking last night about 9/11. We were both trying to recall where we were and how we felt when it happened. It was (and still is) heartbreaking.
Thank you, friend. Get some rest! 😄 Have a good weekend! 💜🙏🏽
