Happy Friday, y’all! What are you up to this weekend? We’re going to the Detroit Jazz Festival, and I am so excited because it’s going to be our first time attending the festival!
We’ve lived here for over a decade, and I can’t believe I’ve never been to the Jazz Festival. I’m a BIG jazz lover, so I’m looking forward to hearing live jazz music and taking photographs of our experience.

Learning how to play chess
We’ve been learning how to play chess, and it has been so much fun! A visit to the Detroit Public Library last week sparked the kids’ interest in learning how to play. I’ve always wanted to learn how to play chess, so I’m glad we’re learning together as a family.
Georgia O’Keefe: Architecture art exhibition opening in Detroit this month.
On Tuesday, I stopped by the library to return some books and picked up the Fall 2026 Detroit Institute of Arts (DIA) program. I was happy to discover the DIA is “showcasing nearly 40 paintings created from the 1920s-1960” of the late artist Georgia O’Keefe.
I immediately marked the art exhibit on my calendar and plan to get tickets so I can see her work in person!
Our little potato harvest
On Wednesday, we harvested our potatoes. In late spring, we planted red potatoes and Yukon gold potatoes in our garden. We ended up producing more red potatoes than the Yukon gold. I think it was a nice, little harvest for our first time growing potatoes.
The Number One Duet of All Time
Here’s a video of Dolly Parton and Kenny Rogers performing live in concert “Islands in the Stream” at the CMT 100 Greatest Duets in 2005. CMT crowned “Islands in the Stream” as the number one duet of all time.
I am taking the weekend + Monday off for Labor Day, so I will be back with new posts on Tuesday. Also, moving forward, I will only be posting Monday through Friday. My schedule is going to be busy again now that our summer break is over, so I’m gonna need the weekends to fully relax. Haha
