Another Snow Day

Whenever I hear loud, rumbling sounds outside my bedroom window and that incessant “beep, beep, beep” of a big truck backing up, I know the snowplow is in my neighborhood — which means it has snowed. Again.

We started getting snow regularly around Thanksgiving week. I’m pretty sure it has snowed at least six times since the end of November.

No, wait. I stand corrected. I just looked at my calendar, and I remembered we got our first snow of the season the beginning of November.

I remember this because it snowed a few days before we went to pick up our newish second vehicle.

In mid October, our old van broke down. For the next few weeks, Travis carpooled to work while we sorted things out.

By November, a kind soul gifted us a 2007 Grand Cherokee they no longer needed. So, that’s how I remember when it first snowed. (And we are so incredibly grateful for the kindness Travis’ coworkers shown to him by giving him rides/to from work and later gifting us the vehicle! God is good.)

I wonder if it will continue to snow off and on like this for the rest of December?

Maybe we will have a white Christmas this year. Last year, we had a foggy Christmas.

I love it when it snows, as long as I don’t have to drive in it and it doesn’t get too bad. 🤭😂 It makes me SO nervous!

For the past ten years we’ve been living in Michigan, I have managed to avoid driving when it is snowing. Usually, my husband will drive (if needed) because he knows how much I hate driving in the snow.

That streak has ended now because this season I have had to drive in the snow quite a few times. 😖

It couldn’t be avoided. I drive E and M, my two older children, to/from work.

A quick snap of another snow day drive!

I should mention I DO drive when the roads are clear and there is still snow on the ground. I just try my best to NOT drive while it is actively snowing. 😄

But alas, the moment has arrived whether I like it or not. I have to start getting used to driving when it snows. (I will say I am a careful driver when it is snowing.)

I suppose this means I am a true Michigander now. 🫡😂
